Europe Resource Team Leader
“From professional portraits to event coverage, to workshops and consulting, The Good Story team brings vital tools and expertise to our conference and staff that transforms and heightens our missionaries communication impact. Ambassadors of TGS help us go from “good to great” and provide services we do not have the capability of providing on a mass scale. Our staff are dependent on prayer and financial support, and good communication is an essential component. We are excited to have them back next summer to continue this much needed work of equipping, training and empower our missionaries in communication strategy, techniques and platforms.”
What we’ll be doing
Full event photography coverage all six days, as well as 50 + Portrait sessions for families to use in their communication with the option for The Good Story to create a new prayer card from their portrait.
Teaching and facilitating multiple small group workshops on topics such as: DSLR photography, newsletter content strategy, Mailchimp, social media usage, communication workflow, Smartphone video editing, Home Assignment content/strategy, and communication best practices.
We will be conduction dozens of 1-on-1 personalized strategy consultations and communication evaluations. We will also have a team consultation with ReachGlobal leadership for division-wide identity and communication strategy evaluation.
For the past couple years I (Dustin) have served as an Ambassador for The Good Story. Christy and I first heard about The Good Story in 2015 when we were leaving the mission field after five years directing a small Bible camp in the Gulf Islands of BC for further ministry training. We connected deeply with their vision to create a collective of creative professionals who would donate their services to support, train, and equip missionaries in their work of communication. We know from our time in ministry and our years as photographers how “story” creates such important opportunities for connection. We experienced how crucial it is to maintain communication with your community and share the stories of how God is working.
Technology in communication and the digital arts have created incredible capacity for dynamic storytelling in any context. We’ve seen God build community around the testimonies of His goodness, we’ve seen Him provide miraculously through people worlds away who connected with a simple video we made that shared God’s faithfulness in the work He was leading us in. We consistently saw the Spirit connect people from a multitude of locations, backgrounds, and traditions to His work at the camp through the power of story.
God built community and provided resources through our testimonies of His goodness.
This July, Christy and I have the opportunity to travel with a media team of Ambassadors to Estonia to serve at the ReachGlobal European Division Conference. Christy and I will be taking portraits for the missionaries attending the conference, covering event photography, teaching in workshops, and helping missionaries find solutions to their unique communication challenges through one on one consultations. We are so excited to be part of this trip because as former missionaries and photographers we love the opportunity to hear stories of God’s goodness, bring encouragement, community, and some practical and creative support to hard working missionaries.
As our community, you know us and you know how excited we’d be for an opportunity like this. If you connect with this service trip and it stirs your heart, we ask you to prayerfully consider joining us in prayer and faith. We believe that the Spirit connects us to His work in the world and delights in gathering the resources He’s promised to provide. So, please pray with us as we wait on His provision for wisdom, creativity, faith, finances, equipment, travel arrangements, and team development.
All donations to this trip to Estonia are tax deductible. Please take some time to read more about our trip and The Good Story here on the site.
